The Art (or despair) of Prioritizing Integration Projects

Did you know how long it takes to build an integration?

The answer is that "it depends on complexity." But the more integrations I've managed, the more I realize that it's never as quick and simple as it is supposed to be.

Why is that?

It could be the ever-changing landscape of tools and software updates that get pushed twice-a-week. Or maybe it’s the influx of tools. Perhaps there are just not enough technical resources (or budget for technical staff) for your team to build an integration. If they did, is this someone's full-time job or do they sit under Operations or IT?

Let's say you have a solid business case for significant time saved, duplicate data entry eliminated, and operational efficiency. You pitch it to your boss and everyone agrees it's a great idea! Awesome! You take it to your technical resources team, excited that this idea is going to be front-and-center on your next performance review as a stand-out value-add you created.

But you're connected to the person that would actually build it...and...they’re backlogged for at least 6 months. That 6 months turns into 12 because project is depriortized for a more revenue-generating integration.

Never fear, 1ntegrate is here. We prioritize you. We know you spend most of your working day inside of a tool or application. We’re here to make your life easier.

Marcelo and I like to take on the most challenging of delivery / implementation projects. We’ve found the biggest problems is around effectively building, testing, and launching integrations.
